America

Founded in the late 60's by Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley, the offspring of American service personnel stationed in the UK, America rocketed to stardom in the early 70’s with its #1 hit, “Horse With No Name” and a Grammy award for “Best New Artist.” Seventeen gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums and a string of Top 10 hits followed, including “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” The band also had Top 10 hits in the late 70's and 80's with “Sister Golden Hair” and “You Can Do Magic,” respectively. More recently, the group released its box set, History, performed on PBS’ popular Soundstage program and will be releasing another CD next month entitled, America – Live at the Sydney Opera House.
